Thomas O'Brien - Designer Focus
We start our Designer Focus series with the introduction of Thomas O'Brien, one of America's top homeware designers. Cited as the 'master of mixed metals,' O'Brien has an extensive portfolio of high-end home furnishings, ranging from Plumbing accessories to furniture, and of course, lighting!
As well as designing luxurious products for the home, Thomas is equally talented at interior design and styling. He started his illustrious career at Polo Ralph Lauren and went on to work on the design of boutique retail spaces and Ralph Lauren's own home.
His style is said to represent 'warm modernism.' A unique blend of modern, traditional and vintage. This style is recognisable throughout his product and interior designs.
We have displatyed two of Visual Comfort's most popular designs side-by-side in our very own Visual Comfort Gallery. The Darlana by E.F Chapman & Hicks by Thomas O'Brien. Both are available in multiple sizes and and have proven to be favourites our amongst interior design and private clients alike.
From his classic designs to pushing the boundaries with new releases, O'Briens range sits right at the top, in terms of popularity. His table and floor lamp designs feature in the 5 star Merchant Hotel, Belfast. (Above).
He is the founder and President of Aero Studios, one of America’s leading design firms. He is also the proprietor of Aero Ltd, the iconic home boutique, that serves as the retail face of the studo.

From private residences to commercial properties, product design to brand and fine art consulting, his work is known for its collected, vintage elegance. His work is sympathetic to the most practical ideas of home.
O'Brien mixes traditional and modern styles to create a unique and luxurious collection of lighting, ranging from antique to modern, using the highest quality materials and finest of finishes. His designs tend to use a mix metals and are a part of the wider Visual Comfort collection.
